“The enormity of the breast cancer diagnosis and treatment affected me on so many levels.  I was in a state of high anxiety and needed someone to talk me off the ledge.  When I heard the ‘J’ in JFCS, the light bulb went off and I said, ‘of course’ I didn’t need to call anywhere else.”

Trained volunteers offer support in the Jewish tradition of visiting the ill, providing companionship to alleviate isolation and loneliness.

Community Chaplain

The Community Chaplain facilitates visitation programs for unaffiliated Jews at local hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes, directs JFCS’s Bereavement Support Groups, supervises the agency’s Friendly Visitors and prison ministry programs, and participates in the Jewish Aging Mastery Program, a national pilot program offered in conjunction with The Patterson Foundation. This position is made possible by a grant from The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee.
