JFCS Families

The Building Strong Families program is a program geared towards keeping families safely housed in their present home. The client must have dependent children in their home and the home must be in their name or another adult resident that resides at the residence (i.e. spouse or significant other). The client must reside in either Manatee County, Charlotte County, or Sarasota County. This is a case management service provided free of charge. While there is financial assistance available through this program, it is not guaranteed nor is it immediate.  They must attend four or more sessions with their case manager before financial assistance can be considered.

A house is more than four walls. It contains the heart of the family. JFCS’s Building Strong Families program works with families to prevent homelessness in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

JFCS works with you in two ways. The first is by providing a long-term plan to maintain financial and emotional stability of the family. The second is by providing immediate resources to stabilize your current housing problem.

If you face one of these problems that might cause you to lose your home, call JFCS for help:

  • Domestic violence
  • Substance abuse
  • Divorce/separation
  • Medical crisis
  • Employment loss or pay cut
  • Legal difficulties
  • Financial crisis
  • Risk of eviction or foreclosure
  • Can benefit from landlord-tenant mediation
  • Can benefit from integrated homeless prevention case management

Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live. Preventing homelessness is one of many ways JFCS works to keep families intact and living together.
