JFCS announces transition of Cancer Support and Wellness Services to Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Institute’s THRIVE Program
SARASOTA, Fla. (April 11, 2019) — As part of its continuing partnership with Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH), JFCS is transitioning its cancer support and wellness services to the SMH Cancer Institute’s THRIVE program. The transition is scheduled to take place over the next several months. As part of this agreement, SMH will continue to offer free cancer support classes and support groups that have been provided through JFCS to those affected by a cancer diagnosis.
“The decision to make this shift has evolved over the past two years as part of JFCS collaborative partnership with SMH and the THRIVE program,” said JFCS Board Chair Dean Miller. “It has always been part of JFCS’ commitment to continue to expand the care and services offered to cancer patients, a program it took under its wing four years ago when a former non-profit was not able to continue to sustain the program. SMH’s additional layers of professional and medical expertise and experience are services JFCS cannot replicate.”
“It has been an honor to offer and grow a local cancer support and wellness program through JFCS,” said CEO Heidi Brown. “We remain committed to helping support those afflicted with cancer and working with our clients during the transition. We have every confidence that SMH’s THRIVE program will take the JFCS program to the next level, through its ability to provide all the various support, care and education services cancer patients and their families need in a more integrated approach under one roof.”
