Children and Adolescents

In today's world, families face tremendous challenges. Creating a safe and supportive environment for children and adolescents is key to their emotional development and well being. Our Children & Adolescent services help parents and children cope with life's transitions such as divorce, loss, relocation, remarriage, single parenting, stress and school difficulties. A full range of services is available from our professional staff including: Counseling, The Strengthening Families Program, Play Therapy, School Based Programs and Support Groups.

OUR CHILDREN & ADOLESCENT SERVICES INCLUDE:

Groups dealing with:
- Anger Management
- Bereavement
- Coping with Divorce & Blended Families
- Effective Parenting
- Improving Self-esteem
- Alcohol & Drug Prevention
Adolecent and Diversion Assistance Program (ADAP)
The program provides weekly one-hour groups to Sarasota County children and adolescents ages 7 to 17, who have been involved in domestic violence, gang-related activity, shoplifting/stealing, or generalized violent behaviors. Each group will emphasize the learning of new skills and behaviors that will reduce the risk of repetitive destructive behaviors. Monthly Family Awareness groups offer education concerning signs of delinquent behavior and offer support to the parents and guardians of ADAP participants. Affordable family and individual counseling is also available. Groups are scheduled Monday - Friday in our Venice and Sarasota offices.
School Based Programs
The Safe Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension (SATOSS) programs target at-risk elementary and middle school students in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Services include: counseling, mentoring and tutoring to support students with their academic studies and help them to succeed in life.
